Solutions 4 Health have been commissioned by Hampshire County Council to offer local smokers a diverse range of support to quit smoking. The new Smokefree Hampshire service is available to smokers now! It has replaced the previous Quit4Life brand, but still offers dedicated expert stop smoking support in Hampshire.

The new service will cater to the needs of the local population by offering a range of support in accessible clinics in local community settings, including community centres, leisure centres and GP surgeries. Smokers will have the option of obtaining information to move through their quit attempt without traditional Advisor support, receiving support via the Smokefree Hampshire online platform or over the telephone or traditional sessions with an Advisor.

The service will provide a tiered system for supporting clients in their quit attempt whilst ensuring flexibility to meet the needs of service users and their preferences. Service users will be able to move through the tiers until they find the level of support that enables them to quit for good.

Leena Sankla, Director of Public Health & Lifestyle Services, Solutions 4 Health Ltd said “We are pleased to be the new provider of the stop smoking service for Hampshire. We are keen to give smokers the best possible chance of quitting smoking which is why we offer so many different methods of support. Smokefree Hampshire will make it easier for people to access stop smoking services in the region with tailored support available through their GP, pharmacy, local community venues and dedicated mobile outreach vehicle. I would strongly encourage anyone who is looking to quit to contact the team to find out more about the type of support which would best suit their needs.”

In 2017 it was estimated that in Hampshire 14.4% of the adult population were current smokers equating to 155,414 (18+) smoking. It has been estimated that the societal cost of smoking in Hampshire is £296.7million a year including £68.6million costs to the NHS and £32.9million costs to social care. Smoking related illnesses can be prevented and evidence suggests that people are 5 times more likely to give up smoking with support from a specialist Advisor.
