Health Warnings

Pack Labelling and Health Warnings

Larger, hard-hitting health warnings on tobacco packs were introduced in 2003. Misleading terms such as low-tar, mild and light have also been removed from tobacco packs.

On 27 May 2006, the Government launched a consultation on introducing picture warnings on tobacco packs, and is currently working on producing final proposals. Picture warnings are already successfully used in Canada, Brazil and Thailand.
